Who We Are

The Advanced Clinical Triage Squad (ACTSquad) - a community first aid service, is a subsidiary branch of the High School Association of Medical Engineers & Scientists, Inc. (HAMES), where high school and undergraduate students undergo a rigorous medical bootcamp to become highly-qualified Certified Emergency Medical Responders, Event BLS Medics, and Advanced First Aid Providers.
All members are volunteers, meaning no cost to you or your organization for our services.
Events and Disasters
The Process:
  1. Upon receiving your request and obtaining additional information from you, we'll contact your local chapter to gather a squad of available volunteer first responders
  2. The squad consists of a participant to volunteer ratio. This is where the squad breaks into separate teams, and collects the appropriate inventory for adequate manpower. Small event? No problem! If only a small team is needed, ACTSquad will happily accommodate.
  3. Upon arrival, the squad will setup in intervals, ensuring that each quadrant of the location has access to adequate medical assistance.
  4. Following the event, ACTSquad will only ask for the manager to confirm our community service through a signature. All medical supplies and training have been paid through donations and private training. A generous donation is customary, however optional, and can be made to the squad's sponsoring institution.

The ACTSquad Project is the product of major research, trial and error, and strategic planning. With the help of a few healthcare professionals and a dedicated team of students, we've come up with a brilliant approach to disasters of all kinds. At this time, ACTSquad is only equipped to assist nonprofit-organizations, charities, and causes.

Training & Qualifications:

  • Emergency Medical Responder (American Safety and Health Institute, American Red Cross, Emergency Care and Safety Institute, or State Certified/Licensed )
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
  • Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association & American Safety and Health Institute)
  • Advanced First Aid (American Safety and Health Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (American Heart Association & American Safety and Health Institute)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, & American Academy of Pediatrics)
  • Emergency Oxygen Administration (American Safety & Health Institute)

We pride ourselves in simplicity. When you request a local team, you're getting a healthcare provider that know's what they're doing, loves what they're doing, and wants to share that with the rest of their community. That's it! ACTSquad volunteers have been scrutinized, interviewed, and trained. We take patient care seriously, so we've done you the favor of having to search for the best. Because our volunteers do not receive compensation for their participation, we operate under the Good Samaritan Statute, in our respective states. We do not take down patients' personal identifying information unless necessary to provide the appropriate care.This soothes the fear of liabilities and other claims, as oppose to having a medical professional paid by the hour. The safety of your staff, and the safety of all your participants as a whole, is our main priority. It's really that simple!

EMS and ACTSquad Disclaimer:
Through experience, we notice that ACTSquad operates differently than regular first aid squads. We respect different strategies that are proven to be as effective as well.
With that, ACTSquad will also integrate with a local first aid squad, if required by the project director. All of our rescuers are trained to correspond with 911 dispatchers, and communicate effectively with EMS personnel when they arrive on site. Although ACTSquad members may possess advanced certifications in more in-depth specialities, ACTSquad is not meant to replace EMT’s or other EMS members, but to reinforce the safety of all your participants, vendors, and volunteers. ACTSquad solely provides BLS services consistent with current Emergency Cardiovascular Care & American Red Cross guidelines for CPR and First Aid regardless of ALS certifications or qualifications. All volunteers are independent contractors and operate at their own discretion.
