The EMR (formerly First Responder) Training Program
The Emergency Medical Response (EMR) training program offered through the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American Red Cross is a comprehensive 48-72 hour course, conducted over 3-6 months, intended to train a layrescuer with no prior medical knowledge into a professional and competent First Responder. This course is offered to volunteers who would like to join ACTSquad but are not currently certified or licensed as a healthcare professional.
Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) are elite trained and certified personnel equipped with basic life support skills, event medicine experience, and trauma skills with a mastery in triage. Any current undergraduate or (junior and above) high school student is welcome to apply for EMR training, however, the application process is selective.
After successful completion of the ACTSquad EMR training program, the standardized written exam (Part 1), and the psychomotor assessment (Part 2), the applicant will be certified as an official recognized Emergency Medical Responder with the ACTSquad and the American Safety & Health Institute or the American Red Cross
Some ACTSquad Training Programs may require a Student Materials Fee. Please speak with your chapter's ACTSquad Unit Committee for more information.
